Hi, I’m Julia and I’m excited to be your 50 minute 10K pacer! I started running when I was young, but over the past few years I've fallen in love with road racing and the running community. This year I qualified for the Boston Marathon, and one of my favourite parts of the sport is helping others reach their own goals. See you at the start line!

I'm a fun-loving pacer who takes the role seriously, even if I don't take myself too seriously.

Is running a passion or a habit for me? Honestly, both. The passion comes from the energy and camaraderie of the Lapower Running Club, where every local race feels like one big party. The habit comes from years and countless miles on the road. I'm serious about my attitude, but pretty relaxed about pace goals. No obsession here... well, maybe just a little.

I've been running for over 25 years and have loved everything from 5Ks and 10Ks to half marathons, trail races, and longer endurance adventures. For me, running has always been about more than chasing a finish time—it's about showing up, embracing the challenge, and seeing what you're capable of. I'm excited to help you stay on pace, have some fun, and hopefully make your 10K a little more enjoyable!

I have been running for 8 years, and it's become part of my life. Every year you will find me out at Vancouver's biggest races. I'm also an active member of a local running club.

2026 marks a milestone year for me, having qualified for the 2027 Boston Marathon. Today, I'm proud to lead the 60-minute pace group at the Burnaby Lake 10K run, helping runners hit their goals with steady, even effort from start to finish.

Hi Runners! My name’s Helen, and I am looking forward to coming back pacing in the Burnaby Lake Run for the second time!
Running started in 2019 for me just trying to join the group for Sun Run the next year! The simple goal of running then has made running a life habit for me in the past 7 years. I love the fresh air when I run in the early morning before going to work, I like the refreshed feel when running in drizzling, thanks to Vancouver's weather! Running has brought me to multiple major marathon races and of course lots of local running events, as a runner or a pacer. I have been pacing multiple races locally, like Burnaby Lake Run, BMO Marathon, Great Trek... etc. I love the Burnaby running community and love to help you reach your goal or next PB. Let's GOOOOO!

I’m Penny, a happy runner who enjoys the simple things about running — fresh air, good conversations, and the joy of crossing the finish line together.

I may not be the fastest runner out there (my legs usually prefer a comfortable pace), but I love the running community, the smiles, and the connections we build along the way.

As a pacer, my goal is simple: be a friendly face on the course, keep the pace steady, share some encouragement, and help everyone feel confident, relaxed, and happy throughout the run.

See you at the start line!

I'll keep us on pace, keep things positive, and help make race day a fun and memorable experience. Looking forward to running with you!

My name is Fraser and I am super excited to be pacing the 25:00 5K group at this year's Burnaby Lake Run. This is my second year as a pacer and I have three years of experience pacing the Vancouver Sun Run. I have been involved in Track and Field, Cross Country, and Road Racing for almost 20 years and I am looking forward to motivating and guiding everyone towards their goals. My best tip for success is to trust your training and enter your race with the mentality that you will succeed.

Joaquin believes running is an exercise for the mind, to reset and let the curious thoughts take over. He's a typical 9–5 worker, but fills his 5–9 with spontaneous adventures. When not running, he's lugging his camera around, meeting new people, reading, growing his plant collection, or playing football/soccer. But for this event, he's here to motivate you throughout the race and celebrate with you in the finish line!

Hi! I'm Liam and I'm excited to be a part of the 5km pacing team. Many, many years ago I had a roommate who was an elite runner. I realized that I might never be able to run faster than him, but I bet I could have better race photos. Long story short, my priorities switched to having the most FUN on every run and now I do all of my races in a costume or with an instrument. Dinosaurs, cows, monkeys, flutes, or a trombone. Anything is possible in the name of safe and healthy fun.

I’m a passionate runner and mom of three kids who has completed one marathon, numerous half marathons, and many 10K races. Running has taught me resilience, discipline, and the value of consistency. Whether I’m chasing a personal best or simply enjoying the journey, I see every run as an opportunity to grow stronger—both physically and mentally. I have always wanted to be a pacer so I can give back to the awesome running community here!

Hi, I’m Jenny! I’ve been running for years and have enjoyed everything from 5Ks to marathons. Along the way I’ve been lucky to earn a few personal bests, qualify for Boston, and even serve as a race pacer—one of my favorite jobs because helping others reach their goals is just as rewarding as chasing my own.

My job today is simple: don’t let anyone finish behind me!

Whether you’re running, jogging, or power walking, I’ll be right there with you. Let’s keep moving and cross the finish line together!

Matthew Brown

Greetings runners! I’m Matthew, from Burnaby. I'm honoured and thrilled to be leading the kids 2.5 KM race.

With a professional running background and more than 30 years of running and 15 years of coaching I've seen times and again that those who start their race in a relaxed and patient manner always perform better than what they expect.

So my recommendation is to stay with me for the first half of the race and then if you feel comfortable pick up your pace gradually and surprise yourself with a better time than you'd expect or even a Personal Best (PB).

Have fun and good luck!
